Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how In Plain Sight Consulting ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use PoleStudioFinder (the "Service") at polestudiofinder.com.

1. Information we collect

• Account information — email, name, and (for studio owners/instructors) business details you provide.
• Content you submit — reviews, ratings, quiz responses, studio and event listings, photos, and messages.
• Newsletter data — email address, and optionally your city/state, when you subscribe to The Pole Pulse.
• Usage data — pages viewed, referrers, device type, approximate location (city-level, from IP), and anonymized event counts collected by privacy-friendly analytics (Plausible). We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising trackers.
• Payment data — for paid subscriptions, billing is processed by Stripe. We do not store card numbers; we retain a Stripe customer ID and subscription status.

2. How we use it

• Operate and improve the directory, quiz, and account features.
• Send transactional emails (welcome, quiz results, receipts, verification).
• Send weekly newsletter emails if you subscribe (opt-in only, unsubscribe link in every email).
• Detect and prevent spam, fraud, and abuse.
• Comply with legal obligations.

3. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)

We rely on: your consent (newsletter, marketing emails), performance of a contract (account, paid features), and our legitimate interests (security, product improvement, aggregated analytics).

4. How we share it

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

• Service providers — hosting (Cloudflare, Supabase), email delivery (Resend), payment processing (Stripe), analytics (Plausible), and error reporting.
• Legal — when required to comply with law, court order, or to protect rights and safety.
• Business transfers — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.

Reviews, ratings, and studio/instructor listings you submit are public by design and appear on the Service under the display name you choose.

5. Cookies

We use a small number of first-party cookies for authentication and session state. We use Plausible Analytics, which is cookie-free and does not track individuals across sites.

6. Data retention

Account data is retained while your account is active and for up to 12 months after deletion for legal, tax, and dispute-resolution purposes. Anonymized analytics are retained indefinitely. You can request earlier deletion (see Your Rights).

7. Security

We use encryption in transit (TLS), row-level security on our database, hashed authentication credentials, and least-privilege access. No system is 100% secure; report any suspected vulnerability to security@polestudiofinder.com.

8. Your rights

Subject to applicable law (including GDPR and CCPA), you may request to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and opt out of marketing communications. Email privacy@polestudiofinder.com and we'll respond within 30 days. California residents may also designate an authorized agent.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

10. International transfers

We operate in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., you consent to processing in the U.S. and other jurisdictions where our providers operate.

11. Changes to this policy

We'll post updates on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be announced by email or in-app notice at least 14 days in advance.
